I was recently asked to speak at the Texas Workforce Commission's Apprenticeship
exas Conference in San Antonio. I appreciate and fully support the work that Commissioner Alvarez and his team are doing to promote apprenticeships in Texas.
To quote TJ Dodd, "JATC training programs are the best kept secret around," and I agree. With the rising cost of student debt and low job placement opportunities for college graduates, apprentice programs are getting long overdue recognition and support. Unlike for profit trade schools, JATC programs offer the best training available at little or no cost to the student.
These programs are structured to allow the student to work and provide for their family while receiving training in their career of choice. They also provide job placement. Not one or two interviews upon completion of the training, but job placement for a student or graduate for their entire career. No other program even comes close. I appreciate being asked to speak at the conference and for the opportunity to be part of such a great organization.
